The imagery in this series is based on a recurring dream I’ve had since my early twenties, about a baby and a fish. Like all my work, these paintings also reflect my love of art history and my interest in all kinds of stories: literary, cultural, and personal. More specifically, I’m influenced by Latin American magical realist fiction, in which unexplained or illogical elements appear in an otherwise believable setting.
